Mellophones

Thomas Balthis

Hi, I’m Thomas! I’m currently a sophomore majoring in political science. I spend most of my free time watching Netflix, taking dog photos and practicing the french horn! I have tons of dog photos so if you ever want to see any just ask! This is my sixth year playing mellophone, with this being my second year in the TUMB. Hope to see you around!

Low Brass

Caleb Blomquist

I am a Junior Music Education Major and my primary instrument is Trombone, but I also love playing piano (poorly). This is my third year as a member of the World Famous Towson University Marching Band and my very first year serving as Music SMAC for the Low Brass Section. I love music and the people I have gotten to meet through music over the years and I am so excited to be able to meet the new members of the TUMB! I also am a member of ΚΚΨ, one of the National Honorary Band Service organizations on Towson Campus, and I am also serving as the President of ΚΚΨ for this upcoming school year. Can’t wait to see you all on campus!

I am a junior Music Education major and I my primary instrument is the trombone. I have been playing trombone for 12 years and an end is no where in sight. I have always had a feel for music and teaching is the best way I feel I can express that. This will be my third year in the band and last year, I served as Low Brass Marching SMAC. This year I will be Low Brass Music SMAC as well as one of the Marching Coordinators for the band. Last year I had the vocal solo in “All of Me” in our show “Bold”. I am also a member of ΚΚΨ, one of the National Honorary Band Service Fraternities here on campus and I serve as the Vice President of Service. I can’t wait for another exciting and successful year in the band and I can’t wait to give the audience a fantastic musical and visual experience.

Russell Rickett

I am a theatre studies major from Calvert County, MD, and I am one of the low brass SMAC. I enjoy crocheting in my free time, and my favorite instrument I play is bass clarinet. I have been writing since I was in middle school, and I hope to one day write in film for horror and action movies. I am sad to leave the TUMB when I graduate in the spring, but I can’t wait to put on one last amazing show.

Stephen Woodall

My name is Stephen Woodall (known to most members of the band as “Phephen”), and I am one of the SMAC as well as the section coordinator for the low brass section. I am a super-senior Music Composition Major at Towson. This fall will be my fifth season marching with the TUMB, and I am also marching with the Reading Buccaneers this summer. My best college memories came from the last four years of being in band and I can’t wait to make even more this season!
