The Towson University Pep Band is known as one of the best bands in the CAA conference because of their commitment to musicianship, sportsmanship, and entertainment.  The Pep Band performs at all of home basketball games for the men’s and women’s teams. Although basketball is the primary sport for our Pep Band, they have also been able to support other teams such as lacrosse, volleyball, and soccer. They also occasionally perform at non-sporting events around campus to bring spirit and energy to the Towson community.

The Pep Band season typically runs from early November through the conference tournaments in March. Membership in the Pep Band is open to all Towson University Students, including non-majors, and can be taken for credit in the spring semester.

Pep Band Stipends

Members of the Pep Band receive stipends for their participation. Typically, that pay scale looks like this:

  • 1st year members -$20 per game
  • 2nd year members – $25 per game
  • 3rd year or more members – $30 per game

The pep band performs at all home basketball games and a select few other events on campus, and stipend amounts do increase during University breaks. In order to receive the stipend, each band member must remain a “member in good standing” throughout the season. This is defined by the rules, regulations, and policies in this handbook. For some games there will be a limited number of stipends available. Who receives a stipend will be determined by: instrumentation, first to sign up, seniority, marching band membership, January availability, and game conduct. This money is deposited into each member’s university account at the end of the spring season.
